Finally, a Clean Baby

Today was a great day: Daphne got her first bath since being home from the NICU! Her plaster casts mean it's all about the sponge baths, which, quite frankly, aren't the same.

Last week she got a new kind of cast. It was meant to just hold her feet in place, not do any moving, while the doctors decide the next step in Daphne's feet fixing. Anyways, this cast was more like a hard Ace bandage that sticks to itself like duct tape.

They told me to take off the casts before we came in this week, meaning Daphne could get a real, live, sit-in-the-water bath!

I was trying to be fast so that I stayed in Daphne's happy window. The whole experience tired her out, but there was no crying! Just this look of shock.

A big thank you to her friend Adelle for loaning her the baby bathtub. Also a big thanks to her great aunt Brenda (aka GAB) for the turtle water temperature gadget. I had no idea how to know whether the water was too hot or too cold, and then I remembered this cool thermometer that GAB gave her. It's a floating turtle that tells the water temp, and then flashes a red, yellow or green light based on whether the water is too hot, too cold, or just right. Good thing we had that, because what I thought was a good temp, the turtle let me know was too cold. He seems pretty trustworthy.

Daphne likes being squeaky clean.
