Real Life

Can someone please tell me why my baby won't sleep? Please?

Nap time comes and she just sits in her bed.

Bed time comes and she wakes up every hour, sometimes staying awake for a few hours.

How can one survive on so little sleep?

How little sleep do you need before you get that disease where you lose your mind?

Oh wait, we may already be there.

Like mother, like daughter. Oh, you did sleep at night. You didn't take naps. I guess you aren't the same. Sorry, can't help you. You just need to wear her out. Good luck!

yay a new posting! Too bad its about losing your mind. Drug her, that is always the answer. ;) She just wants to see who can wait this out the longest. Its a game. Have fun.

New stroller? What happened to the little baby that sat in the car seat stroller?

Paige- I think I've read every sleep book ever written! Are you talking about Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child? That's the most recent book I've read and the technique we've followed since she was about 7 months. I've just realized that Daphne never read any of these books and doesn't realize she is supposed to follow along as well! She doesn't scream so much anymore (because she knows that once she's in her bed, she's there until naptime/bedtime is over- we've at least established that much!) She just doesn't sleep. It's really quite amazing.

If she is happy to stay in her bed, leave her. If she fusses some, leave her. If she cries, you leave.

Yes, Mother. Did you see what I wrote about how once we put her in her bed, she's there until sleep time is over?? =) She just doesn't sleep while in her bed, and then is grouchy for the whole day because she hasn't been getting enough sleep. She's silly like that.

Yes, I did see that. I was just encouraging you to continue in that. She is probably too old for turning on the vacuum. Maybe she needs a radio on with music playing longer than the glow worm plays? Don't know what to tell you.

I'm not sleeping, is Daphne? Maybe we should get together and play.

I'm having the same issue (on a much smaller scale) with Derek. If he's not ready to go down at the exact minute I lay him down, it's quite the drama.

I've wondered the same thing, babies are supposed to sleep like 18 hours a day, how is my kid getting by on 10?

Levi does the same thing too. For months and months he was waking up and playing in his crib for hours during the night. We tried everything too: like changing him, rocking him, reprimanding him, ignoring him, etc. We made him stay in there too and basically he just grew out of it. That helps, right?! :D I know it's been a theme for Daphne not to sleep and I know it's much harder for you. I just wanted to encourage you that you're not alone.
